WOODMERE GOLF CLUB

Woodmere, NY

From its historic clubhouse and elegant amenities to its Jack Pirie iconic golf course, The Woodmere Club has always been the jewel of the South Shore.

Founded in 1908 as a tennis club, and at a different site in the village of Woodsburgh, the club moved to its present location in 1910, purchasing some property along Railroad Avenue, and leasing adjacent land from the White family. Woodmere’s Colonial clubhouse had been built as a home in 1908, and was remodeled and opened on Labor Day, 1910, coinciding with the completion of the golf course.

The club’s leased acreage had a storied past in conjunction with the neighboring Rockaway Hunting Club. Several holes in Rockaway’s early golf course had been on that very land, as had the Hunting Club’s second steeplechase course. For many years, the two courses laid side by side, until 1939 when Rockaway Hunting sold its remaining land north of Atlantic Avenue. In 1994 the clubhouse underwent a major renovation, designing the floor space as it currently exists.

Today, Woodmere’s members also enjoy six tennis courts, a unique “elevated” swimming pool, a children’s area complete with pool, playground, basketball hoop, and arcade, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and beautiful golf course practice facilities.

TAM O’SHANTER CLUB

Brookville, NY

For over 50 years, Tam O’Shanter has provided its members with an environment built upon friendship, family and fun. Our members enjoy a variety of activities, including golf, tennis, fitness, pool, and casual and fine dining; often accompanied by musical entertainment.

Our golf course is a unique, memorable test, and its ingenious design provides excitement and a strong and enjoyable challenge to golfers of all skill levels.

1999 marked a milestone in Tam’s history: the completion of a major renovation of our 18-hole golf course and facilities. Renowned architect, David Postlethwait, redesigned the course following the lay of the land, using the natural terrain to provide a route easily remembered long after the player finishes. He installed trademark features: strategically placed bunkers, mound and collection areas and gently rolling terrain with well-defined, generous fairways.

We have six har-true tennis courts adjoining Olympic sized heated swimming pool where members are often seen competing in a fun game of tennis followed by a light snack at pool side. An area of the pool is dedicated to small children and has a shaded area and jungle gym (play area). In addition, our pool is surrounded by cabana like awnings to assure members a moment in the shade whenever needed.

During the summer season, evening dining ranges from a la carte casual menu to lavish buffets and formal dining experiences.
